Emiratis made up about 35 per cent of graduates from business school Insead’s global executive MBA (GEMBA) course in Abu Dhabi this year. The business school’s MBA – master of business administration – programme is aimed at developing leaders with global cultural awareness. UAE dignitaries, including Mohammed Al Qubaisi, the ambassador to Singapore, attended the graduation ceremony. Mr Al Messabi said, “The effect of the global executive MBA programme has been almost immediate after each key module, leaving me equipped with practical application of theory and related case studies, while also feeling encouraged to discuss the same within the context of our own industries and organisations. Insead had given him a good life experience that combined quality education with interaction with classmates from diverse backgrounds”. Nabil Al Messabi, the head of advisory services at the Tourism Development and Investment Company, was among the graduates. Dr Mugheer Al Khaili, Abu Dhabi Education Council’s director general, said the course allowed young Emiratis to enhance their qualifications and keep pace with global competition. “These graduates set a good example for other Emiratis who wish to excel and improve their status, and is a great sign towards turning Abu Dhabi into one of the world’s leading educational hubs,” he said. Miguel Lobo, the director of Insead’s Abu Dhabi campus, said: “It’s rewarding to see Emirati participants graduate with one of the highest quality and most selective executive MBA classes in the world.
