Typhoon twin-engine canard-delta wing airplane: Inertial navigation system 05/06Aviation & Business, Thursday 26 December 2013, 10:34 GMT
Aircraft control navigation is via both GPS and an inertial navigation system. The Typhoon airplane can use Instrument Landing System (ILS) for landing in poor weather. The aircraft also features an enhanced ground proximity warning system based on the TERPROM Terrain Referenced Navigation (TRN) system used by the Panavia Tornado. The Eurofighter Typhoon is a highly agile aircraft. It’s airplane-components and, single-engine aircraft fuselage is designed to be an effective dogfighter when in combat with other aircraft; later production aircraft have been increasingly more well-equipped to undertake air-to-surface strike missions and to be compatible with an increasing number of different armaments and equipment.
